Besides the tuition fee, education includes some other costs.

You have to pay a certain amount for your books and courses, study material, office material, study trips and internships, transportation, food and possibly your housing.

We made an overview of these costs for you.

Pay attention to the fact that these are only target prices, based on the previous academic year.

Only the books for the obligatory courses are included in the target price, the costs for the optional courses aren’t included.

The next costs aren’t included in the target price:

  • Tuition fee

  • Internationalization (extra costs if you study abroad)
  • Transportation to individual internships, company visits,...


Annual costs

transport We want to stimulate durable transport, that's why we give discounts and refunds for students who use durable transport.
housing The average renting price for a room in Hasselt, Diepenbeek or Genk is 275 euros per month.
food In the studentrestaurants you can buy hot and cold dishes, salads, soup, sandwiches, fruits, snacks,... at student prices. When you pay with PingPing, you get a discount of 33%.
health insurance A health insurance is mandatory for non-EEA students and costs 40 euros per month.
office material and prints                             Costs related to the usage of pens, covers, paper, cartridges, press-work and other office material are estimated at 150 euros.

laptop In the context of the annual laptop project, the university offers 3 laptops with a very good price/quality ratio.
