LANGUAGE COURSES FOR UHASSELT-STUDENTS

1) Intensive Dutch Course before the start of the academic year

What? 

A one-week intensive Dutch language course

When? 

From Monday 6th September 2021 until Friday 10th September 2021 (9h - 16h). 

Where? 

Hasselt University, Campus Hasselt, Martelarenlaan 42, 3500 Hasselt, Belgium

Detailed information? 

Before the start of the academic year, Hasselt University organises an intensive Dutch course from Monday 6th September 2021 until Friday 10th September 2021 at Campus Hasselt. This intensive course allows up to 30 students and is available for both exchange students as well as international master students. The course will be taught on campus. Depending on the COVID situation, it might be possible that we will also offer the possibility to follow the course online. However, this will be announced mid-August. 

Registration? 

For the course on campus you can register via this link. The registration closes on Tuesday 31st August at 23.59h or when the limit of 30 students has been reached. If the limit of 30 students has been reached, you can still register on the reserve list via this link. The students on the reserve list will receive an update at the latest on Wednesday 1st September. 

Take care! 

Only UHasselt students (exchange and masters) are allowed to follow this course. By Monday the 6th September you need to be able to show you are registered as an UHasselt student. Attendance will be mandatory. On the last day of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance.

2) Dutch and English language courses during the academic year 

During the academic year, Hasselt University organises free Dutch and English language classes. 

2.1 Dutch course for beginners (A0-A1) 

What?

8 sessions of 2 hours to learn a bit of Dutch to help you integrate and connect with Belgian students. 

When?

On Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. (26/10, 9/11, 16/11, 23/11, 30/11, 7/12, 14/12 and 21/11)

2.2 Academic English

What?

8 sessions of 2 hours to help you improve your English skills. 

When? 

On Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (27/10, 3/11, 10/11, 17/11, 24/11, 1/12, 8/12, 15/12)

GENERAL LANGUAGE COURSES

1) External language centres

UHasselt has no language centre. Students can attend Dutch or other language classes at external language centres, such as PCVO Modern Languages Hasselt or CVO Step. 

 

2) E-learning modules in Dutch and other languages  

CommArt International, a spin-off of Hasselt University, offers various interactive, multimedia communication modules for learning Dutch and other languages. These are suited for individual study or (semi)autonomous learning.

3) Voortraject hoger onderwijs voor anderstalige nieuwkomers
